Histologic examination of Strattice™ (porcine dermal ECM) used in breast reconstruction showed a minimally degraded scaffold at 6 weeks and a fully integrated scaffold by two years [38,39]. The difference in degradation between D-ECM and SIS-ECM can be attributed to a number of factors, including the composition and ultrastructure of the ECM, the amount of cell infiltration, and processing method.
