2015, Neuroscience LettersCitation Excerpt :It is recognized that soluble factors released by astrocytes bind to the membrane receptors of neuron to induce various cell signaling pathways. For example, TNF-α, which secreted from astrocytes, binds to Cd120a/b receptors of neuron to activate caspases through death effector domains [33]. In the present study, by culturing primary hippocampal neurons with the media from astrocyte cultures by FC treatment for 1 h, we found that a soluble factor(s) secreted from astrocytes induced synapse proteins and tau phosphorylation change.
