This study aimed to determinate POSTN expression in cancer cells in malignant and benign tumours of the mammary gland in female dogs. Materials and Methods: All together 83 cancers, 24 adenomas and 7 unchanged fragments of the mammary glands of bitches were investigated. Immunohistochemistry was performed using anti-POSTN, Ki-67 and HER2 antibodies. Results: POSTN expression was observed in cancer cells in 31.3% of malignancies and 12.5% of benign tumours. A significantly positive correlation between expression of POSTN in cancer cells and the degree of histological malignancy, expression of Ki-67 antigen and expression of POSTN in CAFs was found. Conclusion: The obtained results suggest the possible participation of POSTN in the process of carcinogenesis and progression of mammary tumors in bitches. ER -
